Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What information is needed to schedule an appointment?

A: We will need your date of birth, Social Security Number, address, and insurance information.

Q: What if I don’t have insurance or have lost my insurance?

A: If you do not have insurance please inform our open access team when speaking with them about starting services. Our team will work with you to see if you qualify for MaineCare insurance, if you are eligible for grant funding to help cover the cost of your care, or explore establishing a payment plan that will not limit your ability to obtain the care you or your loved one needs.

Q: How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

A: Appointments will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis and you will be seen as soon as there is an opening. At our busy times you may have to wait until the following day to begin services. It is best to call first before coming into the center to schedule care and reduce the time you wait to see a provider.

Q: Who will my counselor be?

A: Counseling sessions are staffed by licensed clinicians, licensed social workers, and highly-trained behavioral health specialists. You will be scheduled with the first person who has an available appointment unless you request to see someone of a certain gender, a person of color, or a specific staff person. Requests will be accommodated but may lengthen the time it takes to begin services.

  • Help is available to all individuals and not limited to existing Crisis & Counseling Centers’ clients.
  • Crisis & Counseling Centers is required to bill for its services. MaineCare and private insurance will pay for many of our services.
